I have recently stumbled over a sound problem, I tried playing some videos over my shared network, there is a picture but no sound, then i tried previewing the episode of prison break but there is no sound

Prehaps compatibilitility (or whatever ) problems.. What media player are you using? and what format is the media file?

Also, is the sound working on other applications such as Messenger or a game? It might be you've ruined the sound card/speakers..

Well, the formats are AVI and MPEG, someplay with sound, some dont, but the majority dont play sound
Ive tried windows media player, realplayer, DivX player, quicktime player and im installing nero 6 to try nero showtime

EDIT: yes the sound is working for music, sound effects and some videos

i think i have figured out the problem, i might need a audio decoder (whatever they are) if someone would be greatful to help me, but atm im searching on google for one, compatable with DIVX player
