Try this:
Tools>Options>Messages>Tick Show a link to my offline messages in the main window

note: this way you'll have to click the offline messages in the main window to ctually read them. if you do choose that feature dont forget to check for it every time you sign in.

More than likely something between your computer and the server it connects to.

However, are you sure you have Windows Live Messenger on your firewall's allowed list?

Are you by chance using Zone Alarm where your friends are not?

well I suppose you will have to wait until you get another offline message to be sure, also the other question was if you had Zone Alarm or not.

RE: Offline messages
well you would know because you just said you added it to your firewall allow list...but I will have to go on the assumption based on your posts that your not using it.

i checked to see if Windows live was on my firewall allowed list and it was, but i dont know where to find out if i have zone alarm or not. I also use dial-up, so could that have anything to do with my problem?
