Hey Futureboy/girl, this is 2007, we're still using Linux 2.6. Maybe they dropped support for some old cards sometime 2010-2020. Try an older IP stack.

Otherwise, try a complete power cycle. The router at my last place would always crash for some reason. Beyond that... no idea.
was put impeccably into words at DebianDay for me last Saturday, by Knut Yrvin of Trolltech - adults try something once, fail, and then are like "ffs this doesn't work". Children try, fail, and then try again, and succeed - maybe on the second, or even fifth retry. But the thing is that they keep at it and overcome the problems in the end.

did you already configure SSID and WEP for your netgear?

the default gateway for netgears is http://192.168.0.1/

This will be kinda technical, but here it goes.

I think you mentioned you have two devices that act as a DHCP server. Your router and your wireless access point. What I suggest doing, is having your router (the one with no wireless) doing the DHCP. What you would need to do is, turn off DHCP on the wireless access point via a web gui. The access point will ask the network "who is the DHCP server" and the router will respond "I am".

I hope this helps. Oh and if it doesn't and something goes wrong, just use the reset button and it should be back to factory default settings.

The netgear router doesn't support WEP/WEP2.
the IP address for the wireless router, is set to 192.168.0.7 and the modem is set to 192.168.1.1

if the router recieves a ping (in theory) it wont regognize it because im on 192.168.1.30
because its on a different subnet, so it forwards it to the modem, which says "here i am"
so then i can go on the internet. but i installed the driver for the adapter, i did everything according to the manual, and it appears to be set up, and it even shows the network its set to,
but the access point is always 00:00:00:00:00, and will not change, when i tell it to set to the correct one.
