RE: GCSEs 2007
I'm doing A-Levels, then i'm off to uni.

I am doing:

Computing
Business Studies
Physics

Also, people who talk about diplomas counting the same as 4 A-Levels or whatever, that may be true, but if just means that in terms of UCAS points, and although universities sometimes do accept pure UCAS points, all my university offers required me to have actual A-Levels, not diplomas.

However, don't think that I am some A-Level chauvanist, diplomas are a perfectly valid and better choice for some people, but don't instantly think that it is exactly the same as doing 4 A-Levels.

RE: GCSEs 2007
diploma's are more targeted, hence for some like me it's great, also you're more free and respected (well depends on teachers and college i suppose) but you're not going to be treated like little mike still by your teachers at school if you stay in sixth form

as mentioned more targeted, usually have more money and better equipment also, more help offered with unions and financial advisor's etc.

I doubt they do A-Level Multimedia Graphics Illustration Video Editing and Animation (a basic run down of my current course) hell my school still ran win 2000 and didn't have any apps other than office :P

Yes, my first exam is on the 22nd May, I leave this Tuesday for my study leave :) I have 13 exams to do spread over a month period and need to revise more. :( It's going to be weird leaving school but I am looking forward to college in September. :)
It all happened 6976 days, 8 hours, 26 minutes, 21 seconds ago... :D

Same, although there's then about 12 days till my next one. Study leave starts just before lunch this Thursday :P

I'm taking
English Literature (AQA)
English Language (AQA)
Maths (OCR)
Science ["Double award" incorporating Biology, Chemistry and Physics] (AQA)
French (Edexcel, already done the orals)
History (Edexcel)
Design & Technology: Systems & Control [aka electronics] (Edexcel)
ICT (Edexcel, it's a GNVQ [worth 4 GCSEs] and I've already done both the exams involved)

Next year I'm thinking of staying on at sixth form and doing Maths, Chemistry, Physics and ICT (which unfortunately is an applied subject which is seen as an easy thing and not as good as Computing which they always used to do)

Luckily I've already done my gcses

and I'm sorry but they are ok to do, mocks were worse for me.

I took:

ICT nvq something, so it was a double award or something
double science
maths
english
english lit
art
textiles
history
re was HALF a gcse...still got a B

best advice don't stop eating, always have something in the morning, otherwise you get distracted during the exam!!!

I'm now in college doing a btec national dip in ICT, maths was pretty important to get passed to be on the course.

It's worth 3 a-levels too and I don't have to go to sixth form (Y)

RE: GCSEs 2007
I did my GCSEs a couple of years ago now and I've got to say, I prefer exams to assignments... I did absoloubtly nothing towards my geography coursework and still managed to pull it up to a C grade on the exams alone.

Media Studies AS  [D]
Psychology AS  [E]
ICT GNVQ  [PASS]  (equivalent to four GCSEs)
Mathematics GCSE  [B]
English Literature GCSE  [B]
English Language GCSE  [C]
Science GCSE (Double Award)  [CC]
Geography GCSE  [C]
Electronic Products [C]

I think the best advice is to constantly see what help you can get from your tutors. They obviously can't do everything for you, but they may be willing to give you information that could improve your grade. Get coursework checked regularly and get it done out of the was as soon as you can.

As for the UCAS points thing, I don't think I get (m)any from what I have and I know most places I checked wanted 2 A levels or if not, they wanted high grades (A/B) in other subjects
