Apparently they are already taking pictures in certain parts of Europe. Heard an interview with a Google person about in on Dutch radio today.

Guess they're taking the typical Google approach again: "Just break the law, we'll make the law change later" .

You know when you see it... it is like an overgrown icecream van with cameras sticking out, 2 dodgy people in front, some antennas, etc... Not quite so anonymous (at least the one I've seen in a docu on tv, they have "undercover" vans too )....

They have different models (different cars, different camera setups) AFAIK.

And not every car with cameras on it will be a Google car. Friend of mine worked for a company where they drove around with a multiple GPS-linked cams too. They were just filming roads and taking pictures of signs. They don't have the 360 degrees of cams tho. Just 2 at the front and 2 at the back i believe.
