none are particularly close: stansted is 40ish miles, gatwick 30miles, luton is 35miles. if you can get a cheap flight to london city airport, thats your best bet. if not as stigmata says your probably best going to gatwick and get the express train

Since a lot of people want to come we should probably keep a list in the first post of yeses and maybes.
The previous sentence is false. The following sentence is true.

Since no one wants to travel with me., It's cheaper for me to leave my car and travel by train or coach. I've booked coach tickets there and back for £3 (including booking fees :refuck:) :p

Well since no one's suggested anything, I put together a small starting list of potential stuff to do. Please do post to show your interest if anything stands out as a potential thing to do.

Things to do

Cultural
Museums and Galleries
Science Museum
Natural History Museum
Victoria and Albert Museum
British Museum
Tate Modern
Tate Britain
Hayward Gallery
National Gallery
National Portrait Gallery
Design Museumundefined
Sightseeing
London Eye
Houses of Parliament & Big Ben
Tower Bridge & Tower of London
St Pauls
Trafalgar Square
Some sort of River Cruise... Maybe on the “Duck” (land and water)
Music & Theatre
West End Musicals and Plays (may be hard to get cheap tickets for large groups)
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
Comedy Clubs
Jazz Clubs an other live music type venues

Less Cultural
General Fun
Trocadero (arcade games, bumper cars, bowling, cinema ...that sort of thing)
Park (bring ball, frisbee... snacks, beer etc.. weather dependent)
Pub (there are enough of them around)
Bars and Clubs (for later)
Strip Club (we have to bring Patchou somewhere interesting right?)
Shopping (Westfields Shopping Centre... Oxford Street, Regent Street...etc. Maybe somewhere like Hamley's toy store or Harrods would be good.)
Cinemas
Bowling
Terrorising old people
Terrorising young people

Things to Eat
Pretty much anything and everything depending on people's tastes and budget.

For a large group for a cheap dinner the best place to get really good food would probably be New Tayyabs: http://www.tayyabs.co.uk/ - tons of Indian food, cooked the proper way, for very little money. Of course there are thousands of restaurants in London.. for those who are interested in food you can eat in a really good 2* Michelin place for like £30 a head with a set lunch; world class food etc. If you genuinely want more in depth food recommendations I can help with that side of things.

http://www.timeout.com/london/ - a good guide to finding out what's happening at specific dates&times/read reviews for food. http://www.visitlondon.com/events/index - does the same thing for happenings.

To echo gif83 - the British Museum is relentlessly awesome, as is the British Library. HMS Belfast on the river is open to visitors and is one of my favourite attractions in London. The IMAX cinema near Waterloo isn't too expensive and films can be worth seeing there. Greenwich is fun - park, observatory, maritime museum, pretty views. Denmark Street is amusing - non stop guitar shops. The best burgers in the known galaxy are to be had in Camden at Hache. The majority of the museums have free entry so for those who rarely/never visit London I would encourage you to visit at least the British and Natural History. They're world beaters. Harrods is an attraction (try playing spot-the-most-expensive-item and find that 400k table), as is Fortnum and Mason. Uhm, Borough Market is cool.

I've done the London Eye and it's cool, but probably wouldn't appeal to everyone. There's the London Zoo too, but again.. not for everyone.

I could also turn up. If anything interesting gets planned (or just to abuse wtbw). I can also provide a real Rubik's Cube as alluded to above.

Edit: TheBlasphemer, you can get a coach straight from Stansted to Victoria in central London for £10, comfortable, convenient, doesn't take too long (30-50 minutes depending on traffic). And you get the diminished hassle of using Stansted rather than Gatwick (Gatwick and Heathrow are both a pain in the rear end, I find).

Second edit: Hmm, gif83, is there anything good happening for St Pat's Day? Like, some kind of celebration in Trafalgar Square?

but it's all on the Sunday

edit: Though since it is that weekend I'm sure there will be all sorts of random stuff happening around town anyway for St Patty's

I'm gutted, having some trouble with money at the moment, and might not be able to afford the ticket to come!

I'd really like to come too.
