I thought you were better than that, Cookie. You purposely removed the parts of the Messenger-blog post that explained that the password stealer and TB's downgrader were entirely separate programs:

I just got warned by a friend that someone named “cumhurat” was spreading a link to http://www.stuffplug.com/temp/<<filename>>.exe, supposedly being the “MSNP13 Downgrader”. However the file is only 5kb, while a real MSNP13 Downgrader is over 100kb.
This file was NOT uploaded by me, but by the same guy that hacked Web2Messenger earlier this year.
As such if the downgrader worked and/or was 100+KB then you are safe (unless you also downloaded this again, got the 5KB version and ran that, too, though that's a little bizarre). If you got the 5KB version and it didn't do anything obvious then you probably had the password stealer version instead and need to change your password ASAP.
I understand
why you left that part out of your post (at least I think I do), but that doesn't really make you any better than these people who insist on using leaks. All you're doing is making people shit their pants going "ohshitohshitohshit[1] I've had my password stolen!!!" when it's most likely not the case. I, too, would love to see everyone associating using leaked betas with having really bad stuff happen to them, but twisting the facts and being very stingy with the truth is not the way to go about that, IMO.
I suppose it might teach people to check the sources of articles in future, though..
