I'm pretty sure it wasn't removed.... It was modified so MP2 wouldn't check for updates every 5 minutes under no circumstances (even when the last update-check failed). This is important to prevent unnecessary flooding of the update-server, so if you're running an older version, please update....
Anyway, the auto-update doesn't work yet only because the update server is down, but this should change in a couple of days!
