RE: Possible solutions for "We were unable to sign you in to .NET Messenger" (0x81000
Heres what I do when I get a connection error:
I go in the registry editor to (Start > Run > regedit ):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger
Then empty (BUT DO NOT delete!) the contents of the Server value entry by double clicking on it and clearing whatever its current value is.
Restart mSn and it usually fixes it for me.
