Although what SikStyles told you is correct and is most likely the case, such things should be looked at by a professional dentist.
You don't go to the supermarket either to check out if you got the flu. Although there may be people there that would probably be right on the diagnostic, the place to go is to the doctor as there is a very remote chance it _might_ be something else than the flu...
Eg: what I'm wondering is why you fiddled with your braces. Did the dentist say you can do it? If so, it is still recommended that you go to him. If not, you certainly should go to see him...
Again, we are not professional dentists (and even a professional dentists wouldn't be able to give a 100% correct diagnostic via a forum), make the appointment anyways, even if you are a bit more assured now.
