RE: NEWS about Messenger 5 and Windows XP
there should be another way to do it... i poked around for a few days, and this is basicially what I came up with (all for XP):

MSN Messenger 5 does not register its own COM objects. It has type libraries in the program, just like Windows Messenger, but the typelibraries are the same, so MSN 5 API goes to Windows Messenger. Changing the registry entry is one method, which works for some and not for others. Another possibly better method would be to add a second API entry with some sort of wrapper. it is definately possible to access the API, since Outlook Express does it...

RE: NEWS about Messenger 5 and Windows XP
I Am going to clear up a few issues as a result of my post.

So Messenger Plus 2 Wont work on Windows XP?

It WILL work on Windows XP, the Installer Installs it In Compatibility mode.

What About The Icon and the old colors?

Does this Icon mean that much to you?  I think patchou is looking for a way around this, but you can always Deactivate the Messenger Plus! 2 Plugin for MSN Messenger 5.

quote:
So will it or wont it work on Messenger 5?

It will work, it installs in Windows 2000 Mode, However if you turn off compatibility mode IT WILL disable the Messenger Plus! 2 Plugin.

If theres any more issues I can try and resolve, lemme know!

Pathetic. Making ppl wait even longer for MP2.

Fair enough, ppl might need more time, but whats the point in setting a date to release then changing the date.

Not like patchou at all.

The icons don't matter much to me. Then again, I would be hacking into the exe and changing the icon pictures to the XP style. Doesn't matter to me at all. :D

try! lol you can't... winxp icons are already in the exe, and you can't swap 16 color icons with 32 bits ones... because they have different sizes... and btw thats illegal

I was just wondering if a help file will be included with MP2 beta, because i am not all that familiar with MIRC commands, which Pathou has included in MP2. I have been reading what he has added such as :(/away, /busy, ...). So what will be all the features or do we have to try and figure them out ourselves?

well, er, there aren't exactly a lot of IRC commands.  read the RFC and you won't find many... /me is probably the most 'famous' one... i think this was just irc-style though... *shrug*

most of the features have a description and a how-to in the preferences dialog and btw there will be a new faq and a tutorial in the website
