This probably belongs in the MP2 Support Board, but I'll reply here cos this is where it is.

Why would you want MSN 5 and 4.6 running at the same time? I can understand using some form of polygamy prog to open more than one copy of MSN 5 or MSN 4.6 but there doesn't seem to be a reason for having both loaded similtaneously...

You actually don't need to have WinMessenger running to get WinXP features in MSN5. Just installed.

Oh Im sorry... I thought you meant that you don't need it instlaled either...

Also, he was talking about running it under the Windows 98 environment. So he can't have both 4.7 and 5 installed.

I don't think you can have both... MSN 5 replaces MSN 4.6 Its the same program that just overwrites the other like an update.

It is possible, my cousin is running win ME and he has msngr 4.7 & 5 at the same time

That's not right. Up to 4.6 it DID replace the older version, but MSN 5 seems to be a completely different installation. Wonder if u have noticed, but if u check u 'program files' folder u notice there are two folers:

'Messenger' and 'MSN Messenger'

'Messenger' folder is the 4.6 version, and 'MSN Messenver' is the version 5. So if you run msmsgs.exe and msnmsgr.exe, you can run both. (tho it appears to be that u can't log in with two different accounts on them, i dunno)

Are you talking about MSN Messenger 5 and MSN Messenger 4.7 under Windows 98? Cause that's what he was talking about, and it sounds to me like you are talking about MSN Messenger 5 and Windows Messenger 4.7 under Windows XP.... if you know what I'm talkin` about.:D
