The FREE AV i mentioned above has found trojans Norton had left (and no i have not been online/connected to the net between uninstalling Norton and installing that AV), so whats a good virusscanner? Also it doesn't slow down the startup of my comp as Norton did.
You will never ever be fully safe, new virusses are made every day..how can it protect against something it doesn't know? If you have any doubts about a program or a file just don't open it till your AV program has a new virusdefinitions update.
Edit: Free doesn't necessarily mean bad.
