O.P. Undecided  My computer and sleep mode
Well when I hit the sleep mode button on my keyboard or press the "Stand By" button in the windows shutdown menu it just shuts down my PC. Any idea why? It's my new one:

ASUS A8V motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.42ghz (will OC to 2.5 or 2.6 after I get more RAM)
512mb DDR RAM (will upgrade to 2GB next week)
Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 64mb (will upgrade to a 256mb ATI Radeon next month)
120GB HDD
DVD +/- R/RW
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
(Took the spec.s from my MSN quick text :P)

Edit: Holy shit, it acts funny. It shuts down cuts the power to EVERYTHING (including the fans, which my old PCs didn't do) accept leaving a bit of power to the main parts, and to get it out of sleep mode you have to hit the power button ^o)

sleep mode button = control panel > power options > advanced > then change "when i press the sleep button on my computer" to stand by

also i think theys a bios to turn stand by off (but not certain) so you could check there

No, it usually wakes up when you press a keyboard button or move the mouse, now it only wakes up if you press the power button on the tower :-/

this is just a setting !!! if you go to your keyboard setting somewhere there should be "allow this device to bring computer out of stand by"

control panel > keyboard > hardware > properties > power management > allow this device to bring computer out of stand by

edit
for someone who knows about his computers, you sure do seem to be posting some n00bish things

well if they checked (now) then it will be able to bring your computer out of stand by. assuming that if they are connected by usb you also have the usb been able to bring the computer out of stand by

In your BIOS there is sometimes an option to chose how to power up from standby (keyboard, power button etc).

And I don't think you need to keep telling us you have an AMD 64 blade. I think we all know by now ;)
