Poll: How valueble windows firewall is?
competant - u can rely on it as much as other firewalls
enough - does give basic protection
sucks - on or off, doesnt make a difference

sp2 works fine for me as i think it does for most normal users. if it didnt work for most people it wouldnt have been released like it. it works fine and the firewall is very good i find. before sp2 i didnt even use a firewall. but as it comes with windows i may as well use it.

I agree with WDZ. Windows' firewall works fine for me, always taking into account what the firewall was dessigned for.

yeah true, but not all  or a firewall from Goansoft works well , in some cases there beta ad-ware works well for some people, just not all, same with there firewall

I installed SP2 and it's great. No problems at all. So keep your opinion to yourself unless you're willing to back it up with facts.
WDZ dont be so harsh, I asked for personal ratings!!!
but true extreme negativities are not really quality ratings!

also, i know that msn messenger adds exception for itself, thats why (1) i removed the exception manually, and (2) used mirc as another test program.

edit: i just noticed that DJeX was talking about sp2 in general not just the firewall, n i think that sp2 generally provides better security taking internet explorer into consideration and firewall, but guess u all know about the security risk the windows security center opens.

generally no, unless specifically stated from the firewall's provider.
an example is symantec's firewall, they say that its compatable with windows's firewall (ie. u can turn them both on without problem) but still u are advised to turn on only one.
