It all depends on the theme you're using, and what I did on the screenshot was just go to my display configuration, advanced and chose a color for the "Window" background... it's that easy. I don't think many people will have it completely black, but it's possible, so if MSN supports the option to blend emoticons nicely into the background we should stick to that I think  |

I don't think you did the same... you used a completely black background image, right? I changed the Windows system color for the "Window" element.... a screenshot:

yes i did exactly the same, AND tried with different backgrounds, you see black one on screenshot

I dunno what the problem is... just use an icon ripper or something to take out the icons.... They'll show up correctly with ANY background as they all have an alpha-channel.... just use the right ripper (which rips the whole icon) and use the icons in the right way.
Every icon can consist of different icons in different sizes and colors...
