Windows Messenger 5 has not.

There is a difference between the two, the reason some people are running both 4.7 and 5 is because they are using Windows Messenger 4.7 and MSN Messenger 5. They are different programs.

If you read the article on mess.be it will tell you that it still holds the 4.x api(except the 1.0 Type Library) but has to be changed in the registry to function.
Thank you

Can someone please tell me the difference between Messenger and MSN Messenger, as I'm confused!

I have the Messenger that came with my Wndows XP. At the moment I have version 4.7, and I use Messenger Plus. I have recently been asked if I want to upgrade to version 5.

Second question.. if I go ahead, and install 5, will Plus stop working completely, or will some functions still work? I mainly need to get rid of the adverts, and I like the chat logging facility.

Thanks for any help!

MSN messenger and messenger are the same thing.

Unless messenger is referring to windows messenger, which is the XP version of MSN messenger.

Normally when peopel speak, MSN = MSN messenger = Messenegr = windows messenger.

Depends on who is sayign it, what OS they have

Then I'm confused by comments like this:
MSN Messenger 5 has been released

Windows Messenger 5 has not.

There is a difference between the two, the reason some people are running both 4.7 and 5 is because they are using Windows Messenger 4.7 and MSN Messenger 5. They are different programs.
