Tbh, _cnidern, Please PM WDZ requesting a name change on your old account if you want a name change, dont make new accounts, its quite annoying.  But Im glad you see your proceeding with this project, your servers have been slow so I havent yet gotten the latest version.

if you really want a messenger to be used on any school computer (unless the network is really, really secure with no javascript or anything) you should be spending some time building a web based messenger. the trick to this is you would have to allow users to download it and install it to their own servers. that way, every time a school net filter blockes one server for the messenger another could be setup/used.

You can't make it legal... simple as that... hard-patching and/or redistributing is illegal.

To make it completely portable you need to have a massive amount of knowledge on hooking, subclassing, components which msn messenger uses (all the dll's that are in use), and probably need every trick in the book, etc, etc... All in all, you're almost better of making your own (illegal) client...

you can't.  If you can't run exes you can't run messenger.  You can try using a web messenger such as:

MSN2Go
WBMSN
Piglet IM
E-Messenger
I Love IM
SoundPacks   -   Scripts   -   Skins

that's not a bug, thats an unexpected feature

Any new "Live Messenger" currently in the works? ;)
Some sort of "loader" for the original .exe files that prevented or re-directed (to a temporary folder) the creation of those registry keys or directories would be a nice thing to see! :)
