The name is just bringing a freshness to what they think is stale..and the norm..makes the  new consumer think.."something different  must be better..
Changing the name also stops confusion between this new version and the older versions..

MSN messenger is completely different to what it was say four years ago...so a new name for a product that has come so far is totally expected.
But for the users of the old..a thing to remember is
"After all, what's most important is how the thing works, not what it's called."!~

"Windows Live Messenger" it sounds strange now, but im sure people will get used to it after a while (although a very long while)

I don't like very much the new name, but it's not important.
I hope it will have some good improvements, such as the offline messenger (that I hope will come from the union with yahoo! messenger).

wait since MSN is dying whats MSN plus called now? WLM PLUS!?

It's not 'MSN' Plus anyway so it's irrelevent. It's Messenger 'Plus' and seeing as the new name for MSN still has the word Messenger in it I don't see any reason for change.

It wont be MSN anymore (Microsoft Networks) it'll be MSL (Microsoft Live) lol ... MSL hahaha sounds retarded ~ I can see the future now.. "Hey b, i'll talk to u on MSL when I get home"

i personally think the name sucks, , i dont think i'll be using it somehow

So what are you saying? Currently you use MSN Messenger because it has a cool name? Not using something because of it's name is a bit premature surely...Why not wait til the features are revealed.
